    Was that Jackie Gleason playing the bass?

    • @Poisson4147
      @Poisson4147 10 дней назад

      Yes, but only pretending. He was dubbed by the band's actual bassist, Doc Goldberg.

    I just noticed that's Ralph Kramde is on the upright bass, and on the piano is the Joker.

      👍👍 Fox Studios would often put members of their "actors' stable" in small parts to give them extra exposure. Jackie wasn't playing, of course; his part was dubbed by the band's actual bass player Doc Goldberg. Interestingly, despite his lack of performing ability he had a wealth of musical knowledge, and even formed his own orchestra during his TV days.

    OUTSTANDING!! I have no words. The joy and artistry of the Nicholas Bros... This is Olympic level gymnastics while wearing a tux and dress shoes with leather soles and TAPS 🤘🏾👊🏽 I try to comprehend the work put in and discipline, as Black men in the 1940s, to achieve this level of prowess and accomplishment. I need to know more about them. If there isn't a statue or monument for them somewhere, there should be. Respect.

    Two of the finest, most talented and underrated dancers to ever grace the silver screen and probably any stage anywhere. Once you reach a certain level of proficiency, "expert" or "master" become meaningless words. These two gentlemen are right at the top of the field with Astaire, Kelly, O'Connor, Hines, Sammy Davis, and anyone else who ever wore taps. Thank you for posting this, as this is the first time I've seen this performance.

    Anther great number from The Glenn Miller Story. I wasn't aware who the blonde, spunky singer was. She, however, reminded me a lot of super-star, Betty Hutton. Now I learn that she was actually Betty's sister. She was another natural before the camera. Watch those body movements and naturalness when the camera is whirring. She was full of life, just like her energetic sister.

    It's great music! The reason there are so many 'extras' , as in 'crowded with wall to wall people scenes' - was to employ as many extras as possible during the great depression after the Wall St crash between the two world wars.

    • @Poisson4147
      @Poisson4147 11 дней назад

      This film was made in 1941. The Depression wasn't completely gone but was well on the way. In any case, extras and bit players came cheap in those days 😀

    morally bankrupt seth rogers. Those pants were not found in a park the police told you they were found by a waitress at the same restauarant where Sebastian had eaten at in the back parking lot dumpster. Seth you need to tell the truth you sexually harrassed the female searchers till they left. You slapped searchers with cease and desist orders. tell Nancy the truth as too what you have been doing.
